To recognize our diverse team of employees and their value to our organization, we will be celebrating a CorVel Anniversary each month. This month we are featuring Matt Morgan, Bill Review Manager, as July 2020 marks his 7th year at CorVel.
Matt joined CorVel right out of college in 2013 as a Bill Review Analyst. Throughout his career at CorVel, Matt has held various roles, including positions in the claims department and as a PPO Developer in the bill review department. Currently, Matt leads the bill review team in North and South Carolina as Bill Review Manager. Matt’s team performs professional and bill review for 9 jurisdictions. He says, “I’ve learned a lot from my time in these different roles, and I think that experience has gifted me with a more holistic and dynamic perspective of the intermingling elements of our business.”
Matt shares, “During my time at CorVel, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute my ideas and see them taken seriously. I think it’s very encouraging to be in an organization where I feel I have a voice and have the ability to contribute and see the fruits of that contribution beyond the day to day job tasks.”
Matt’s most memorable project was leading the Virginia bill review team into a post fee schedule environment. It was his first major project as a Bill Review Manager and his first real exposure to CorVel outside of the Carolinas. This process involved learning a new state, rich with complex legislation contrary to what he was used to seeing, and leading a new team of individuals. Through this project, Matt gained further technical knowledge and ultimately led the integration of two different teams for a successful rollout. Matt says, “This experience added a lot to my tool belt and those tools have helped me approach subsequent projects and challenges with a greater degree of confidence and fewer setbacks. This was my greatest growth experience since coming to CorVel, and a season of time I’m fond of.”
Outside of work, Matt enjoys playing the guitar, which he has been practicing for the past 15 years. Whether it’s his commitment to his hobbies or work, it is clear that Matt truly dedicates himself to new challenges and expanding his knowledge.
