General Description: CorVel is seeking medical case managers for field case management positions in Ohio. Our case managers work to achieve flexible, cost-effective options for catastrophically ,chronically ill or injured individuals on a case-by-case basis to facilitate individualized treatment goals focused on timely return to work if appropriate and maximal functional rehabilitation.
Essential Job Duties: Provides medical case management to individuals through communications with the patient, the physician, other health care providers, the employer, and the referral source. Makes recommendations regarding health care resources. Provides assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient's progress. Evaluates patient's treatment plan for appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost effectiveness. Implements care. Devises cost-effective strategies for medical care. Attends doctor's visits. Assesses rehabilitation facilities for appropriateness.
Education/Training Requirements: Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Current RN licensure in Ohio. Three or more years of recent clinical experience with strong background in ICU/CCU, trauma, spinal cord injuries, medical/surgical, orthopedics, neurology, or rehab. WC experience preferred. Certification as a CDMS, COHN. CRRN or CCM preferred.
