CorVel and HIPAA
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, HIPAA, is exerting and will continue to exert a significant impact on healthcare operations over the coming years. As many entities have begun to comply, and continue to struggle with HIPAA compliance, CorVel continues to make its company-wide initiatives to protect informational privacy and security to be our highest priority. Our systems, software and services continue to be enhanced in order to safeguard Protected Healthcare Information (PHI) and assure our clients and trading partners that exchanging data with CorVel will take place within the bounds of Federally mandated HIPAA compliance.
CorVel maintains staff dedicated to monitoring and conforming with all of the myriad regulatory aspects of HIPAA that affect, either directly or indirectly, CorVel and its customers. A primary focus of this group is to manage our multifaceted Compliance Program and keep our staff updated through a corporate driven initiative which encompasses all aspects of training, documentation, and execution pertaining to HIPAA.
