1.) What is CorVel?
CorVel Corporation is a national provider of leading-edge solutions and services in the field of managed healthcare. CorVel specializes in applying advanced communications and information technology to improve healthcare management in the workers' compensation, group health, auto and disability insurance markets.
2.) Is CorVel an insurance company?
No, CorVel does not cover risk. CorVel partners with insurance companies to provide managed care services.
3.) Is CorVel an HMO?
No, CorVel is not an HMO. CorVel provides managed care services, but does not employ "closed panel" provider groups, as do many HMOs.
4.) What is managed care?
Managed care seeks to improve the benefit of healthcare to patients, as well as the cost effectiveness as perceived by those financially responsible for the care. CorVel believes that by improving the administrative efficiencies for both the providers and payors of healthcare, we can help to address everyone's interest in extending the reach of healthcare benefits.
